About Sally
“My strength lies in being a seasoned performer coupled with a wealth of voice training and knowledge ”
About me - Over my performance career, I’ve stood on the stage in from of thousands of people, delivered lines under the microscope of television and film directors, managed live media interviews and withstood the scrutiny of the critics. I know the pressure, and the fear, and what it takes to overcome these challenges.
I'm an actor, singer-songwriter, voice-over artist, and ‘multi-disciplinary’ performer’ (a fancy word for mixing art forms). I started out training in theatre and quickly found my love of all things ‘voice’. I’ve always made music and studied voice alongside my acting career in theatre and screen, and I’ve relished my international study in physical and choreographic theatre, voice, acting, and clown.
I’ve taught at many of New Zealand’s top academic and performance institutions, such as Auckland University, Unitec, The Actor’s Program (TAP), Canterbury University, and Mixit (a migrant youth program), as well as working with community and world choirs.
I offer one-on-one sessions from my home studio, group workshops, and online lessons are also available. My teaching covers singing, voice, and public speaking, with the flexibility to tailor sessions to individual needs. I also offer performance coaching for performers wanting to fully embody their creations and reach their highest performance potential i.e be spectacular.
About my training and approach - I trained at Toi Whakaari (Diploma in Professional Drama / Acting) and have furthered my vocal studies internationally. I’ve trained with the Pantheatre Company (France; Pantheatre Performance Diploma), Roy Hart International Centre, completed SLS training (Speech Level Singing), studied semi-classical Indian singing (3 years), and music theory at Auckland University. I also received an acting scholarship with the Royal National Theatre Studio in London whilst living abroad. My acting work has been nominated and awarded for theatre and television awards (Chapman Tripp Awards, Broadcasting Council Awards).
I’m passionate about the interconnectedness of personal experience and how it reflects in the voice, breath, and body — and the potential this holds for releasing old patterns and learning new ones. I aim to guide students and clients toward an embodied, authentic, and technically healthy voice, helping them discover their true vocal potential.
