Sally works in Auckland as vocal teacher, actor, voice over artist and singer songwriter. She has over 20 years experience in theatre, television, film and radio.
As a vocal teacher Sally works closely with the Roy Hart philosophy, covering all aspects of voice from singing, to the spoken word, through to extended voice. This approach embraces the entire range of human sound, engages the physical body, and aims to liberate the creative self. Sally’s vocal training also focuses on technical knowledge, offering a sound base in the fundaments of voice work and allowing people to develop an independent practice that has it’s roots in vocal health.
Sally trained at Toi Whakaari (New Zealand Drama School) and has since studied voice in Roy Hart Voice, pop focused SLS (Speech Level Singing), Indian singing, and at the Royal National theatre studio (London, U.K). Over this time Sally studied with many renowned teachers including Enrique Pardo (France), Liza Mayer (France), Linda Wise (France), Bert Van Dijk (N.Z), Kristin Linklater (N.Z), Patsy Rodenberg (London, U.K), Amit Sengupta (N.Z) and Stuart Clarke (N.Z).
Sally also draws upon years of training in the performance disciplines of acting, choreographic theatre, clown (Philippe Gaulier, France), Alexander Technique (London, U.K), dance and yoga.
Her unique blend of training and performance means she can provide knowledge, practical tools, and supportive, honest feedback to help you on your vocal journey.
Sally has led many workshops and taught private students over the last decade. Some of these include Auckland University, Auckland Unitec, The Actor’s Program (TAP), community choirs and workshops, youth immigrant groups, musical theatre students, acting students and every day individuals.
